Civil Engineer - Infrastructure Design Experienced Infrastructure Engineer, Chartered or approaching Chartered, urgently required. Our client is a reputable civil and structural engineering consultancy providing a range of services to a wide variety of sectors including commercial, residential, education and public sector. They are looking for an experienced Infrastructure Design Engineer. You will join the Civil Engineering team to provide highways, drainage and external works design on a wide range of projects, including both New Build and Refurbishment projects for public and private sectors and will work under the leadership of the Civil Engineering Director. The role will include client liaison, design, interface with project teams, and contract implementation. Carrying out detailed infrastructure design for roads, drainage etc. including S278 highway schemes and S104 drainage schemes together with preparing technical specifications. Ability to complete, or knowledge of, Flood Risk Assessments, Transport Planning Excellent communication skills and computer literacy are essential: and a good level of computer ability in AutoCAD, Ground Modelling, WinDes software is required. AutoCAD Civils 3D skills and a working knowledge of the NEC suite of Contracts will be an advantage. The ability to work on your own initiative, to operate as part of a Project team and to represent the company with confidence to a variety of clients and outside organisations is expected. An excellent command of the English language, communication, grammatical, computing and interpersonal skills are essential. The successful Infrastructure Engineer will work from a large, modern office and be in receipt of a competitive salary and benefits package which is negotiable dependent on experience.

Highway Engineer wanted by framework consultants providing design and supervision services to Local Authority. You will work on small to medium sized highway/footway maintenance projects within the East Riding of Yorkshire. This will initially be a 6 month contract role but our client has a large number of projects coming online, many of which will last for several years. The successful candidate will have a detailed working knowledge of highway design, maintenance and safety standards, and their application to the differing types of highway environment. An understanding of highway legislation and experience of working with the Highways Agency is also required, as well as with private land owners and the general public in relation to highway matters. They will also have a comprehensive understanding of NRSWA and experience of liaison and coordination with statutory undertakers is essential, as is an understanding of the principals of Building Information Management. Services required will vary depending upon project, but will consist:- 1. Project Management of Highway and other Engineering Schemes including programming, budget control, adherence to the quality management systems, risk management and procurement. 2. Assessment of existing highways against the requirements of current standards and design briefs. 3. Advice on highway and other engineering matters and development of feasibility options and costings for highway and other Engineering Schemes. 4. Detailed site surveys including the use of total stations and related software packages to produce three dimensional computer models. 5. Interpretation and development of highway design briefs from initial to detailed stages. 6. Development of design options to detailed stage, production of drawings and, where required, presentation of options to Council Members and the general public. 7. Liaison with statutory undertakers, private land owners, Council Members, the general public and any other interested parties at all stages of highway projects to ensure a positive outcome. 8. Preparation of detailed design drawings, specifications, contract documents, methods of measurement, including bills of quantities, and activity schedules. 9. Organisation of road closures and TRO’s to coordinate with the construction programme. 10. Supervision of works on site, checking compliance with specifications, maintenance of site records and preparation of as built records. 11. Resolution of design, construction and programming issues during the construction phase. 12. Measurement of completed works and agreement of interim valuations and final accounts. 13. Defect inspection and closedown of construction projects, coordination of and contribution to the project Health and Safety file, preparation if contractor performance reports. Skills Required:- 1. Project Management 2. Highway and Infrastructure Design – including Department of Transport’s Design Manuals for Roads and Bridges. 3. Contract Preparation – including use of the Department of Transport’s Model Contract Document, Specification for Highway Works, Method of Measurement, Site Supervision NEC Contracts 4. Drainage Design 5. Surveying and Setting Out 6. Computer Literacy including the following:- i. Autocad ii. Autosign or similar Traffic sign design package iii. Autotrack iv. MX/ Moss 3D design modelling package desirable but not essential. v. Microsoft Office (Word/ excel/ project) 7. Supervision of Survey Teams 8. Supervision of Design Office Personnel 9.
