Senior Engineer wanted by civil engineering consultancy who are enjoying some exciting growth having secured work via a sewage and drainage framework contract. Located near Mansfield my client's office has two sections; a consultancy section and a contractors section. Both work together as one large team dedicated to providing civil engineering solutions to infrastructure problems. The successful candidate does not have to have everything in the list but over time you will be expected to increase your skills in line with the challenges that you will encounter as the company continues to expand. Fundamentally there will be some "learning on the job" but isn't that always the case? + Civil Engineering qualification and background. + Good understanding of surveying techniques. + Good knowledge of sewerage and land drainage. + Understanding of River systems. + Knowledge of sewerage management planning techniques. + Knowledge of the installation and management of sewer flow and rainfall surveys. + Experience in managing surveys of sewerage structures such as Combined Sewer Overflows, Sewerage Pumping Stations and Sewage Treatment Works. On the technical side the following would be useful. + Good knowledge of AutoCAD. + Experience with PDS or similar. + Experience with Infoworks (but this can be taught if you have familiarity with the likes of microdrainage) + Experience in using GIS and the ability to manage MapInfo Data. You will also need a car and a clean driving license. As you can see from the above we are looking for a well rounded engineer with time served experience gained in a local authority, or similar consultancy, role. You may be well versed in everything above but perhaps your skillset leans more to highway design / section 38 or 278 works. Geotechnical Engineer /  Civil Engineer wanted for our client in York. Our client provide specialist multi-discipline engineering services throughout the UK. This individual will perform an integral role within the Internal Design Team, which provides design support to the business, both in terms of Temporary and Permanent Works Design. A large proportion of the work involves the design of earthworks, foundations and retaining structures. Key Task & Reponsibilites + The ability to query / challenge the brief, thus enabling the development of unambiguous working drawings to a high standard of accuracy in an appropriate format, and to agreed timescales. + Review of H&S risk assessments and method statements. + Undertaking of Site walkovers. + Undertaking of preliminary risk assessments (Phase 1 desk studies). + Scoping, organising and supervision of ground investigations. + Preparation of factual and interpretive reports. + Geotechnical input into:   o Foundation design and calculation of bearing pressures.   o Slope stability analysis and defining remedial measures.   o Settlement analysis.   o Retaining wall design. + Production of clear, consistent, referenced calculations. + Geotechnical CRE on Network Rail schemes. + Provision of Geotechnical advice to the wider business. + Development and review of design / assessment spreadsheets and / or calculation templates for use within the Internal Design Department with a view to increasing overall efficiency. + Design representative at Project and Progress meetings with Project Team, and / or the Client as required. This may include providing outline design input at remit stage. + Full understanding of the team’s financial, quality and programme constraints. + Promotion of safe working practices in all areas. The Person: + Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Geotechnical Design and Engineering. + Experience of scoping, planning and specifying and supervising ground investigations to EC7 and BS5930. + Strong report writing skills, with experience of preparing Geotechnical Interpretative Reports and Geotechnical Design Reports. + Experience in Geotechnical Design, Specification and Implementation:   o Detailed knowledge of relevant British Standards, Eurocodes, and Regulatory Body standards.   o Full working knowledge of industry relevant geotechnical design / assessment packages.   o Foundations (shallow and piled), scour assessment & protection, retaining walls, slope stability assessments and soil engineering / mechanics to EC7. + Understands the importance of achieving customer satisfaction by driving and maintaining the highest level of standards and working collaboratively. + Has awareness and promotes SHEA (Safety, Health, Environment & Assurance) requirements. + Knowledge and understanding of the design process. + Working knowledge of the BIM philosophy. + Excellent communication skills. + Project management / organisational skills. + Problem solving and decision making in line with level of responsibility. + Pride and enthusiasm for work, and the ability to recognise and promote good practice. Education & Professional Requirements: + Degree level of education in geotechnical / geological science (orCivil Engineering & Geotechnics). + Incorporated / Chartered Member of a relevant Professional Body. + CSCS - Professionally qualified or similar. + Detailed understanding of CDM. + Sound knowledge of Managing Geotechnical Risk. + PTS A driver's license also required.

Tender Planner needed for our client in the Barnsley area. Our client provide specialist multi-discipline engineering services throughout the UK. The purpose of this role is to develop competitive cost effective tender programmes to meet identified customer needs. The key tasks and responsibilities are, but not limited to: + Build a programme from first principles in Primavera P6 and other planning software packages. + Liaise with estimating to determine sufficiency and compliance of internal resources and also subcontractor/supplier quotations with respect to programme/methodology +  Input into the tender strategy +  The presentation of tender programmes to senior management at tender review meetings +  Liaison with the delivery teams in respect of placing supplier / subcontractor enquiries + Technical appraisal of construction labour, plant, materials and temporary works + The effective analysis and pricing of programme risks + The preparation of tender submission documents including programme narrative. + Plant & labour reconciled with estimator. + Produce Programme what-if scenarios as appropriate. Candidates for this role must be a team player and should meet the following criteria: + Possess a comprehensive contracting and planning background within a commercial / industrial construction environment + Possess an understanding of the construction process including the importance of innovative solutions + Ability to coordinate a multi-disciplinary Bid Team when required + Have an analytical approach , able to understand & follow good planning procedures, be well organised, self-motivated and able to work alone or within a team + Good communication skills for all levels + Must be IT literate, particularly with MS Word & Excel + An in depth knowledge of common construction planning software Educational/Professional: + Degree or HNC/HND

An Estimator for permanent roles for our client based in the Barnsley / Wigan / Manchester / Glasgow or York area. Our client provide specialist multi-discipline engineering services throughout the UK. They are currently looking to expand their estimating team ideally with Civils, M&E or E&P. Previous experience ideally in rail peferred but applications from those wanting to be part of an expanding business welcome. Summary of Position: The purpose of this role is to develop competitive cost effective tenders to meet identified client needs. Duties & Responsibilities: + The effective registration, control and administration of tender documentation. + Work closely with the Planning Team in relation to work sequencing and programmes.==== + The preparation and management of tenders from receipt of documents through to delivery. + The presentation of tenders to senior management at tender review meetings. + Liaison with the Supply Chain Manager with the respect to placing of any major supplier or subcontractor enquiries. + The technical and commercial appraisal of materials, plant and sub contract quotations preparation of analytical estimates including the detailed appraisal of construction labour, plant materials and temporary works. + Be able to work from a bill of quantities or just a set of drawings from the client.=== + Provide prices for everything from a one-off scheme to maintenance projects which will be completed over several years.=== + The effective analysis and pricing of risks. + The preparation of estimating reports. + Providing assistance to proposals and contract management functions.
